Information on Adjustable Rate Mortgage and Fixed Rate Mortgage Loans

Sprint reveals it spent $15.5 billion to fuel its iPhone hunger

Sprint's SEC filings have revealed that the carrier has committed to purchasing $15.5 billion worth of iPhones as part of the long-promised $20 billion gamble. If each handset costs around $630 at trade, then we're talking about the network holding nearly 24 million units. Given that the company most recently ate a loss of $1.3 billion, most of which was caused by carrier subsidies for the 4S, there's a genuine fear that the company won't be able to make enough back on each customer to offset the initial outlay. Given the Baller-style purchasing decisions of Dan Hesse of late, we'll be watching how this unfolds with great interest and our fingers very firmly crossed.

GMO Registry Receives Letter of Support From Osaka Prefectural Government to Operate New generic Top Level Domain, .osaka

GMO Registry's application to ICANN already underway as the company prepares to raise visibility of the Osaka brand on a global and local scale.

Tokyo, Japan (PRWEB) February 27, 2012

GMO Internet Group company and registry services provider, GMO Registry today received support from Osaka Prefectural Government to operate new geoTLD, .osaka.
GMO Registry responded to a call for applications to operate the proposed new Top Level Domain, and received a letter of support from the government following extensive evaluation.
While already moving forward with its ICANN application for the .osaka extension, GMO Registry is preparing a marketing strategy aimed at growing awareness of the ?Osaka? brand throughout industries including tourism, commerce, culture, and sport, both within Japan and internationally.

There are currently 22 gTLDs in use worldwide (.com, .net, .org etc.). ICANN is now set to expand the existing generic top level domain space and began accepting applications for new character strings in January 2012.
Registry service providers applying to operate certain geographical names are required by ICANN to obtain endorsement of the relevant government or public authority as determined by each country?s national administration. The Osaka government accepted applications from service providers wishing to receive letters of support between January 4-31, 2012.
The evaluation of applicants took into account registration policy, operational policy, vision, business planning, service content and compliance with relevant laws. GMO Registry believes that winning government support for its .osaka application is further evidence of the company's strong reputation in technology and proven industry track record.

After GMO Registry submits its ICANN application to operate the .osaka extension, ICANN will begin evaluating applications in April, a process that is expected to take at least six months. New gTLDs are likely to begin rolling out sometime after January 2013.

About GMO Registry
GMO Registry was established in 2009 to provide all-in registry solutions for new gTLDs including assistance with the application process, building and operating registry systems, and marketing support. Several global brands including Canon and Hitachi have chosen to partner with GMO Registry to secure their respective brand names as TLDs while GMO Registry has also received a letter of support from the Metropolitan Government of Tokyo to operate .tokyo. GMO Registry will also work with new registry DotRyukyu to apply for and operate two Japanese geoTLDs, .okinawa and .ryukyu. GMO Registry will also submit its own application for the extension .shop. With .shop the company aims to build a dedicated namespace for ecommerce businesses worldwide.

About GMO Internet Group
GMO Internet Group is one of the most comprehensive providers of industry-leading Internet services worldwide. As well as domain registration, web hosting, ecommerce, and payment processing businesses that each hold the top share in their respective markets in Japan, services operated by the group include Internet advertising, search engine marketing and research. Mahan wins WGC Match Play title to deny McIlroy No.1 spot

Hunter Mahan shakes hands with Rory McIlroy after beating him 2&1 in the final in Arizona.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Hunter Mahan beats Rory McIlroy in final of WGC Match Play
  • Mahan's victory denies McIlroy World No.1 spot
  • American never looks back after taking four-hole lead
  • Mark Wilson beats Lee Westood in third-place playoff

(CNN) -- Hunter Mahan thwarted Rory McIlroy's bid to become World No.1 by beating the Northern Irishman 2&1 in the final of the WGC Match Play Championship in Arizona Sunday.

McIlroy needed to claim the title to dislodge England's Luke Donald from top spot, but could find no answer to his 29-year-old American opponent, who was winning his second World Golf Championship event.

All square through the first five holes, Mahan dramatically turned the match his way by winning the next four holes through a mixture of brilliance and mistakes by McIlroy.

22-year-old McIlroy chipped in for an eagle to win the par-five 11th and pulled a further hole back with a birdie at the 14th, but could make no further impression.

Mahan, who made six birdies in the final, is the first American to win the Match Play crown at Dove Mountain since Tiger Woods in 2008.

It was his fourth career victory on the PGA Tour.

Earlier, No-2 ranked McIlroy beat Ryder Cup teammate and World No.3 Lee Westwood 3&1 in their semifinal.

England's Westwood too knew overall victory would see him regain the No.1 spot, but he found McIlroy in inspired form.

The U.S. Open champion found himself three down after four holes to his former stablemate Westwood, but he staged a sterling recovery to win four of the next five.

Leading by one hole at the turn, McIlroy was never headed again and carded seven birdies in a fine victory.

Mahan started fast against his semifinal opponent Mark Wilson, winning the opening two holes.

But the all-American clash remained close throughout and Mahan had to wait until the 17th to close out a 2&1 victory.

Wilson beat Westwood 1-up in the third place playoff.

Tesla to owners: Plug it in

Tesla to owners: Plug it in
EV maker Tesla has come under fire for allegations that its vehicles can be "bricked" when their batteries are completely discharged. Such instances require that the cells be replaced to the tune of $40,000, which doesn't sit well with folks who already forked over six figures to buy a Roadster in the first place. Tesla doesn't deny the charge (pardon the pun), but it does offer a common sense suggestion to avoid the problem: simply plug the car in. Tesla implies this danger is only likely for early adopters, and says it's also made strides to idiot-proof later vehicles with advanced warning systems -- Tesla 2.0 Roadsters can phone home to Tesla headquarters with a low juice alert, for example. Tesla documents safe battery charging practices in the owner's documentation, though, so here's an idea: if you're going to spend $109,000 on an electric sports car, maybe it's a good idea to RTFM (read the freaking manual).

Is your Android app on BlackBerry App World without you knowing?

In our review of PlayBook 2.0, we were eager to check out how well Android apps worked on the platform, and one of the first we reached for was the Dolphin HD browser. Curiously enough, it turns out Dolphin's makers MoboTap had no idea their app was available via BlackBerry's App World. The discovery came after we were notified by developer Steve Troughton-Smith that Dolphin HD had been submitted to App World by white label store Handster (owned by Opera). We reached out to MoboTap who confirmed they didn't authorize any submission by Handster, with a spokesperson telling us "We do not condone Handster submitting our Dolphin Browser app to BlackBerry's App World for us and are currently working to take it down and assure Handster will not submit our app for us again. We will assess developing for BlackBerry when the time is right." Dolphin HD may be a free app, but the question remains: why is Handster submitting it without permission? Has your app been submitted to App World without your knowing?

Update: We have contacted Handster's press department for comment, but no response at this time.
